ALERTS-WARNINGS-WEATHER!

*Weather related warnings for most parts of the United States can usually be obtained from at least one of the following sources.
1. Local media...which includes local television, radio, online and print outlets.
Note: Local media outlets often maintain their own weather forecasting capabilities, as a competitive tool, which can cut down on the time that it takes them to provide weather related warnings to the general public.
2. Local government...which includes local city and county and other local government organizations.
Note: Local government organizations frequently maintain specialized outlets that are specifically designed to provide local citizens with the best available information.
3. National media...which includes national television, radio, online and print outlets.
Note: National media outlets will frequently include reporting from their own and other local outlets in their national coverage, while at the same time offering their own take of the more potentially dangerous situations.
4. National government...which includes many possible sources of weather related information, the first and foremost of which is The National Weather Service (NWS), which should remain in operation...and hopefully available...under even the most difficult circumstances.
Note: Even though The National Weather Service can be expected to remain operational longer than other possible information sources, it should be noted that (1) other and often more accessible sources frequently include NWS reporting in their own coverage, and that (2) after a situation has become so serious that other possible information sources have started to close down direct access to NWS information should b expected to become progressively more difficult.
Note: Additional information may be obtained by contacting NWS at their website address, which is www.nws.noaa.gov/ .
