AMUSEMENTS-ARTS AND CRAFTS-QUILTING!

*Since I have already been looking into how people amuse themselves in Houston, Texas, I was not surprised to learn that a large number of them do so by pursuing an interest in one or more of the traditional arts and crafts, which have been around basically forever, but what I was surprised to learn was that a large number of those people are pursuing an interest in Quilting, which is about as traditional as you can get, and which for our purposes we will define as being the sewing together of two or more pieces of textile material to create bedspreads, clothing, ornamental wall hangings and various other textile related creations.

*After looking into this matter a little further I was further surprised to learn that The International Quilt Festival, which is billed as the world's largest quilting show, is held in Houston's very large George R. Brown Convention Center every fall, and that it always has several thousand quilts on display, as well as more than a thousand vendors, and over fifty thousand visitors from not only the Houston and Texas areas but also from all over the United States and from many foreign countries.

Note: Additional information about The International Quilt Festival and/or other quilt related subjects may be obtained by telephoning the shows sponsors, Quilts Inc., at 713-781-6864 and/or by connecting to their website at http://www.quilts.com/ .
