EMPLOYMENT-AGE DISCRIMINATION!

*Being a Senior Citizen who just may have to look for a job in the near future, with very few marketable skills to offer, I am now researching Age Discrimination and the problems that it might cause me, and what I can do about it...if anything...and thus far I have learned several things that I have noted here.
1. The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (ADEA) protects individuals who are 40 years of age or older from employment discrimination based on age.
2. ADEA applies to both potential employers and job applicants.
3. ADEA makes it unlawful to discriminate against a person because of his/her age with respect to any term, condition, or privilege of employment, including, but not limited to, hiring, firing, promotion, layoff, compensation, benefits, job assignments, and training.
4. ADEA makes it unlawful to retaliate against an individual for opposing employment practices that discriminate based on age or for filing an age discrimination charge, testifying, or participating in any way in an investigation, proceeding, or litigation that may result.
5. ADEA applies to all US employers with 20 or more employees, including employment agencies and to labor organizations, as well as local, state, and federal government agencies.
Note: In this and future postings in the blog, Age Discrimination will be defined as being when a person/group makes decisions concerning another person/group based solely or predominantly or even significantly on that person/group's age.
