ENTERTAINMENT-MOVIES-HOWARD THE DUCK!

*Recently, as I was surfing through my local cable TV channels I was delighted to find that Howard The Duck was showing, since this has long been one of my favorite movies...ever since I first saw it back in 1986, shortly after it was released to theaters, and shortly before it was removed from those same theaters, probably because of the limited amount of commercial and/or critical success that it was having...meaning absolutely none of either...which did not keep me from appreciating the way that the producers avoided depending on nothing more than the usual Hollywood stereotypes to tell their story...as we are seeing them do so often today (2007)...and instead used their imaginations to tell a very entertaining satirical story about how a cartoon-like humanoid duck is jerked out of his peaceful life in a far off egg shaped planet, that is called "Duckland," and then transported by an errant laser beam to earth ...and to Cleveland, Ohio...of all places...where he is then forced to cope with some increasingly serious problems that are caused for him first by a variety of unsympathetic local earthlings, and then by a very unsympathetic Dark Overlord of The Universe, who has somehow also been transported to earth by the same errant laser beam, which he now plans to use to transport the other Dark Overlords from "the Nexus of Sominus" to earth, so that they can then take over and run things for their own benefit, after doing away with Howard and his friends...and the human race...of course.
