*Before Senior Citizens actually start exercising, they should obtain the appropriate guidance from a knowledgeable physician(s) and/or other persons who are knowledgeable about this subject, which should include at least the following points.
1. Current fitness levels should first be established, as benchmarks that can be used to grade future progress.
2. Current fitness and future goals should be used to design an appropriate exercise program.
3. Exercise programs should begin at a realistic level and progress only as appropriate.
4. Exercise programs should include adequate time to recover, without compromising any progress that has already been made.
5. Exercise programs should include periodic notations about the progress that is being made toward attaining previously established goals.
Note: Exercise equipment can be useful but is unnecessary to a successful exercise program.
Note: Exercise equipment that is manufactured commercially can be expensive, and perhaps in many cases too expensive, especially when its effects and benefits can be duplicated by the use of various inexpensive homemade alternatives, such as by using bricks or even rocks as substitute weights.
