HOUSTON-SIGHTSEEING-THE FORBIDDEN GARDENS!!

*With China and the Chinese being in the news so often lately I think that this is a good time to
point out that the Houston, Texas area is home to The Forbidden Gardens, which is a private museum that offers many very interesting and informative exhibits about China and the Chinese to the general public at its location in the Houston suburb of Katy, which is about a twenty minute drive from downtown Houston, under "normal" driving conditions.

*Exhibits at The Forbidden Gardens include reproductions of the Terracotta Army of the first emperor of what is today China, and a scale model of the Forbidden City as it was during the time of Imperial China, and a representation of "The Summer Palace," which was a retreat for the emperor and the officials who worked in the Forbidden City, and a panorama of the city of Suzhou, which is sometimes called "The Venice of China," as well as a number of other exhibits which illustrate various aspects of Chinese architectural history, and which are all well worth a look.

*Tours of The Forbidden Gardens and Museum are offered to the general public on most weekends, weather permitting, which is the only time that this facility is open, and are in fact the only way that visitors are allowed to see the park like grounds and the various exhibits that are located there, which can be off-putting but still enjoyable.
