*My thanks go out to my friend, Lester, from Willis, Texas, for sharing his memories of way back when the young men in Houston, at least those who were inclined to do so, could drag race their automobiles out West Westheimer Road, which was out in the country at the time, without raising so much as an eyebrow, which would be suicide today because of all of the traffic and the police attention that has been brought on by the expansion of the city well beyond that point.
