NOSTALGIA-THANKSGIVING DINNER-UPDATE!

*This morning, on the day after Thanksgiving, I was surprised...and delighted...to be joined on my morning walk by my neighbor, the new American citizen, who proceeded to tell me about what a complete success her family's first traditional American Thanksgiving dinner had been, and to thank me for "all of [my] help," which had in fact consisted of nothing more than recalling some Thanksgiving dinners from my own family's distant past, before she then gave me a plate that was full of samples of what she assured me were items that she had personally fixed...without getting any help from anyone at any local supermarket, which had been my suggestion...which turned out to be some perfectly acceptable roasted turkey...without giblet gravy, and some good cornbread dressing with cranberry sauce, and some strange vegetables and a salad that was made out of some leafy greens that I did not recognize...which she told me came from her island home in the South Pacific...and some okay cornbread...but no biscuits...and no real butter, and some more than okay pumpkin pie for dessert...but no pecan pie...and no whipped cream, all of which added up to a very enjoyable experience...as well as a very delicious dinner...for which I am very Thankful.
