*Since my recent posting on the Special Olympics I have received several requests to also post information about the Paralympics, which...I have to admit...I thought were the same thing...until my new friends straightened me out...which is why I am now posting the following information about Paralympics, which I found by connecting to the U.S. Olympic Committee's Paralympics oriented website, at www.usoc.org/paralympics/ .
1. The U.S. Olympic Committee's Paralympic Division was formed in 2001 to increase support for Paralympic sport in the USA.
2. The U.S.O.C. Paralympic Division coordinates the preparation and selection of athletes to U.S. Paralympic Teams, both summer and winter, in conjunction with pertinent National Governing Bodies (NGBs) and other partner organizations.
3. The U.S.O.C. Paralympic Division also works with national and locally-focused sport organizations that offer Paralympic programs to children and other developing athletes.
