*When people are preparing their luggage to travel with them by air, they can lessen their probability of having problems by following a few simple suggestions, including the ones that I have listed here...in no particular order.
1. Remove all old and/or irrelevant claim checks, in order to lessen the probability of confusing baggage handlers along the way.
2. Place the appropriate identification information on both the inside and the outside of your individual pieces of baggage, which should only include information about your name, and a telephone number, and...maybe...a business address.
3. Include a general itinerary of your trip, along with your identification information, but only INSIDE your luggage.
4. Carry a full description of your baggage and of its contents, and carry that description only on your person.
5. Check your luggage in as early as possible, in order to increase the chances of your luggage actually making your flight, as well as any connecting flights that may be involved in your trip.
Note: Flight Insurance can be useful under certain circumstance, especially if a traveler is traveling with valuables that are not covered by their airline's normal compensation policies.
Note: Missing baggage should be reported as soon as possible to the appropriate authorities, and preferably before a traveler leaves the airport.
