*Recently, while watching television (and letting my brain rot) I noticed that at least a couple of the more prominent online travel services (Expedia and Orbitz) are now advertising the fact that they offer toll free telephone numbers that would be travellers can call to talk to an actual travel agent about their holiday travel plans, which seems to support my earlier contention that at least for the immediate future less experienced travelers can still benefit from visiting in person with a well chosen local travel agent, especially if that travel agent is particularly knowledgeable, and of proven reliable, and ready, and willing, and and able to help...which they more than likely will be, since their own present income, and their future income, will be depending upon how well they take care of the needs of not only their presents clients but also of the needs of their prospective clients.

EXPEDIA is awful. Their toll free number doesn't work from abroad. If EXPEDIA mess your trip you will still waste money calling them from abroad. They put on hold for hours when you call to their customer service.
There is a campaign to stop EXPEDIA's unethical business practice. Since they are scamming people. Read my case and hundreds (maybe thousands) more at : http://www.expedianews.com
Thanks for the comment, which seems to reinforce my contention that it is still a good idea to establish a good working relationship with a reliable local travel agent who can not only help you with your travel planning but also with any unexpected problems that might come up later.
