*Recently, while I was researching the availability of creditable pet adoption agencies in the Houston, Texas area, I was gifted with several recommendations for a place/organization called "Special Pals," which appears to be worthy of at least some additional attention by anyone who is interested in the subject of pet adoption.
*After locating the Special Pals website at http://www.specialpalsshelter.org/, I was able to discover a number of interesting facts, some of which I have extracted and posted below.
1. Special Pals is a private, non-profit charity making it a 501 (c ) (3) non-profit organization. 2. Special Pals' mission is "to make the world a better place for healthy cats and dogs by providing temporary shelter, healthcare, an alternative to euthanasia, adoptive homes and education to the community about the responsibilities of pet ownership and the importance of spaying and neutering."
3. Special Pals has been operating in the Houston area for over 20 years.
4. Special Pals staff and volunteers maintain a three and a half acre facility that is located near the Houston suburb of Katy.
5. Special Pals is open for dog and cat adoptions from noon until 3:00pm on Mondays through Fridays and from noon until 4:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
6. Special Pals maintains a list of local rescue organizations that is available to anyone who is in search of information concerning an injured animal or placing a stray or abandoned animal.
Note: Additional information about Special Pals may be obtained by telephoning them at
1-281-579-7387 and/or by visiting their facility, which is located at 3830 Greenhouse Road, Houston, Texas 77084.
