SCIENCE-WEATHER-GLOBAL WARMING!

Recently, while revisiting the subject of Global Warming, I stumbled across an interesting and seemingly informative article on this subject at the BBC’s online news site (http://news.bbc.co.uk) which quoted Michel Jarraud, the secretary-general of the World Meteorological Organization as saying that global temperatures will drop slightly this year as a result of the La Nina current in the Pacific Ocean, and that that will mean global temperatures have not risen since 1998.

Even so, Mr. Jarraud maintains that it would be a mistake to use this data to cast doubt on the present prevailing view that the earth’s temperatures are in fact trending upward in the long term, and that it will record high temperatures within the next five years.

As supporting information, this article states that the average global surface temperatures have risen 0.74C since the beginning of the twentieth century.

Note: For further information about this article, please refer to the BBC online news site, for “Global Warming ‘Dips This Year,’” by Roger Harrabin, who is listed as a “BBC environmental analyst.”
