*Recently, while researching another subject online, I was delighted to discover that the state of Texas is now operating a "Silver Alert" program, which is aimed at helping to locate missing senior citizens who have dementia and/or Alzheimer's, much like its successful "Amber Alert" program is already helping to locate missing children.
*Similar to the Amber Alert program, the state's Silver Alert network can be activated after an authorized party (a next of kin, etc) reports to local authorities (the police) that a senior citizen is missing, and after local authorities have confirmed that the reported senior citizen is in fact missing and that this matter meets the basic criteria, which is that...
1. The missing senior is 65 years of age or older.
2. The missing senior is a resident of the state of Texas.
3. The missing senior has an mental impairment such as dementia and/or Alzheimer's.
4. The missing senior is being reported within 72 hours of their disappearance having been discovered.
5. The information about the missing senior is sufficient to warrant its distribution to the general public, with at least some hope of its helping to locate the missing senior.
