*While it is probably impossible to protect children from every possible threat to their personal security, it is possible to teach them a few basic principals that will increase their changes of avoiding trouble in the first place, a few of which I have listed here...in no particular order.
1. Teach children to never to let strangers come into the house, especially if they are alone.
2. Teach children local emergency telephone numbers, and how to use available communications devices, including conventional telephones, cell phones, walkie-talkies, etc.

4. Teach children to avoid going along with anyone who they don't know, especially if this person(s) approaches them in unfamiliar and/or unusual circumstances.
5. Teach children not to open mail or packages, especially when they are unsupervised.
6. Teach children how to answer the telephone so that they do not give out personal information, such as home address, the absence of adults, etc.
7. Teach children how to say no to strangers.
8. Teach children how to extract themselves from dangerous situations.
